Playlab - A nurturing place for creative exploration

Teaching Philosophy

Playlab is a mixed-age program for children aged 2-4 years old, created to nurture the curiosity and creativity that is inherent in the young child. We are offering morning sessions from 9 - 12, and currently have the group size of 10 children with 2 teachers in each session. Our goal as artists and educators is to provide a creative environment that promotes exploration of concepts and ideas and gives children the space to create and problem solve independently. The curriculum in the classroom is not teacher directed or project driven, but is created around the interests of the students, individually and as a group. Ultimately the program has been developed to support the scientific and artistic curiosity of each child, with the teachers acting as guides and mediators. As educators we also help to nurture a sense of community with our students and their families

Most importantly, Playlab is a safe place of individualized learning that helps each child gain confidence and learn the important skills of socializing. Children are given the language and tools to problem solve independently as well as collectively with their classmates. We are here to teach to the whole child and provide a creative and loving introduction to the school environment.
